Chief McClure was born in Montebello, California in 1961. He was raised in the San Gabriel Valley and attended school in Hacienda Heights. He received his A.A. Degree in Administration of Justice from L.A. City College and his B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University Los Angeles.
Chief McClure joined the ranks of the Los Angeles Police Department in 1981. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1993, Lieutenant in 2003 and Captain in 2006. During Chief McClure’s 30 years of service with the LAPD he worked a variety of assignments including Patrol, Detectives, Narcotics, Gangs, Metropolitan Division K-9 Handler and Adjutant. He spent five years as the Commanding Officer of the Civil Rights Integrity Division that oversaw the implementation of the Federal Consent Decree and his final assignment was the Commanding Officer of Robbery-Homicide Division.
Chief McClure was selected as the Chief of Police in the City of Montebello in 2011. Since his appointment Chief McClure has dedicated his efforts and the efforts of the MPD to support Community relationships, partnerships and the youth programs designed to help at risk youth. He has been a strong proponent of the use of technology and is especially proud of the incredibly successful MPD Social Media program. He was also successful in securing a full-time Mental Health clinician for the City who is partnered with a full-time MPD officer. The clinician and officer are the first Montebello Mental Evaluation Team “MMET”.
Chief McClure has been a dedicated life-long resident of Southern California. He is currently a POALAC “Peace Officers Association of LA County” Board member, Vice President of LA County Police Chiefs Association and the past President of the San Gabriel Valley Police Chiefs Association.
